The details below explain the evidence in plain language and clearly identify what remains unknown.
Rockstar’s official GTA VI media page listed three long-form videos on September 19, 2026: Trailer 1, Trailer 2 and An Extended Look. This GTA 6 trailer timeline keeps their official names and release dates in chronological order.
Use Rockstar’s official media page to watch the originals. We link to the publisher rather than re-uploading its videos.
| Official title | Published | Type | Main purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grand Theft Auto VI Trailer 1 | December 4, 2023 | Numbered trailer | Introduced Leonida, Vice City and Lucia |
| Grand Theft Auto VI Trailer 2 | May 6, 2025 | Numbered trailer | Expanded the Jason-and-Lucia premise and world |
| Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look | August 27, 2026 | Extended presentation | Showed a longer mix of gameplay and cinematic material |
The table is intentionally limited to long-form videos listed by Rockstar. Its media library separately listed nine short clips on the verification date; those clips are not numbered trailers.
Find Trailer 1 and Trailer 2 in Rockstar’s video library, and use the dedicated An Extended Look page for the newest presentation. Officially stated: these are Rockstar’s titles; “Trailer 3” is not an alternate name for the extended presentation.
Trailer 1 introduced the modern version of Vice City and the wider fictional state of Leonida. Lucia appears prominently, including in a correctional setting, while scenes across beaches, roads, waterways and nightlife establish the broad tone of the world.
The trailer’s original 2025 window is now historical. The current scheduled release date is November 19, 2026, so an old end card should not be used as current date evidence. Our release-date timeline explains every official change.
What Trailer 1 safely supports:
The complete map, final performance modes, PC version and online launch plan remain unknown.
Trailer 1 is useful for understanding how Rockstar first framed GTA VI: Lucia’s introduction, Vice City’s modern setting, and a wider Leonida made up of more than one kind of landscape. It is less useful for settling how a particular scene plays. The rapid sequence of social-media-style posts and scenic cuts is presentation, not a menu or a list of playable activities. For locations that Rockstar actually names, see the map and regions guide.
Trailer 2 arrived on May 6, 2025. Rockstar’s accompanying material put Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos together at the centre of the premise: an apparently simple score goes wrong and draws them into a wider conspiracy across Leonida.
Clearly shown: the official scenes add context for their relationship, homes, businesses, travel and criminal activity. They remain edited promotional scenes. A brief view cannot establish a complete control scheme or mission structure.
For character facts without actor rumours, see our separate profiles for Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval.
Editorial observation: Trailer 2 moves closer to the protagonists’ everyday circumstances than Trailer 1, then widens back out to the people and places around them. That makes it valuable for character context, but not a reliable chronology of the final campaign. The official bios, rather than a scene-order theory, are the firmer source for Jason’s Keys background and Lucia’s time in Leonida Penitentiary.
Rockstar published An Extended Look on August 27, 2026. It is the newest long-form video in the official media list checked for this guide. Officially stated: it was captured entirely from in-game footage on PlayStation 5.
It is not officially titled Trailer 3. The safest way to interpret it is mechanic by mechanic: something clearly shown can be described as shown, but that is different from knowing every rule or control. Our GTA 6 gameplay guide applies that evidence boundary.
Rockstar’s capture statement answers a narrow but important question: the presented imagery came from in-game footage on a PlayStation 5. It does not state a final resolution, frame rate, console comparison or PC specification. The presentation contains a mix of action, character and world-building; a cut between two moments does not establish that they follow one another in a mission.
The official videos collectively support the named setting, the two protagonists, the central premise and a range of visible activities and environments. They do not publish a final mission list, exact map size, story length, complete vehicle catalogue or complete weapon catalogue.
Promotional editing also compresses time. Two shots placed beside each other do not necessarily occur in the same mission. A location visible in the distance does not establish that every building is enterable. A vehicle appearing once does not confirm its final in-game name.
Many searches for a GTA 6 trailer are not really asking for analysis. They are asking where to watch it safely, whether a download is real, or whether a Reddit clip is official. Use this quick check before trusting a video result.
| Search question | Safe answer |
|---|---|
| Where can I watch the GTA 6 trailer? | Use Rockstar’s official GTA VI media page or Rockstar’s official video channels. |
| Can I download a GTA 6 trailer? | Do not download an executable, “HD unlocker” or archive. A normal trailer can be watched in the browser or app. |
| Is a Reddit GTA 6 trailer post official? | Only if the post links back to Rockstar’s own page or official channel. |
| Is a fan edit the same as a trailer? | No. Fan edits can be fun, but they are not source material for release dates, gameplay systems or map claims. |
| Is An Extended Look Trailer 3? | Rockstar did not label it Trailer 3 in the checked official media list. |
This page uses the keyword “GTA 6 trailer” for the official video timeline only. Release timing belongs on the release-date page, gameplay interpretation belongs on the gameplay page, and fake video downloads belong on the download safety guide.
Not on the official media page checked September 19, 2026. Search countdowns and thumbnails using “Trailer 3” are not announcements. An Extended Look is already available, but Rockstar did not label it Trailer 3.
We will add future official videos to this one timeline instead of publishing competing pages for each trailer number. That keeps one clear answer current and prevents old speculation from outranking verified information.
Editorial observation: search results, fan uploads and thumbnails sometimes count any major new video as a trailer. Rockstar’s own media list uses a different name. When you need to cite or share the August 2026 release, use Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look so readers can find the same source and distinguish it from a future numbered trailer.
No numbered title is implied by their presence in the media library. Rockstar listed nine short clips in a separate category when this page was checked. They can provide additional views of the game, but counting them as “Trailer 3” through “Trailer 11” would misrepresent the official catalogue.
Start at Rockstar’s GTA VI media page. Confirm that the video is published or linked by Rockstar, then compare the upload date and title. Be cautious when a clip has a cropped watermark, altered music, no publisher link or a request to download a “demo.”
No public trailer requires an executable, browser extension or “video unlocker.” Our GTA 6 scam guide explains the warning signs. For still media, use the official screenshot guide.
