The release window has changed as development continued:

1. December 2023: Trailer 1 presented a 2025 release window.
2. May 2, 2025: Rockstar announced a move to May 26, 2026.
3. November 6, 2025: Rockstar changed the date to November 19, 2026.
4. September 16, 2026 check: Rockstar’s GTA VI page and current preorder material still show November 19, 2026.

This timeline uses announcements, not rumours about internal targets. An internal target reported elsewhere is not the same as a date Rockstar promised publicly.

Older search results can still show 2025 or May 26, 2026. Those were real public plans at the time, but the later Rockstar announcement superseded them. When two pages disagree, compare their publication dates and then check the live Rockstar GTA VI page.

Is GTA 6 delayed again?

Rockstar says eligible digital preorders can begin preloading on November 12. The announcement does not state a universal preload hour, and the preload date does not prove that every country and platform will share one worldwide gameplay unlock instant on November 19.

Your safest approach is to check the countdown shown on the store account that will own the game. Account region and daylight-saving rules can affect what a converted time looks like. This site’s countdown cards count toward the confirmed calendar date; they do not claim a universal launch hour.

If you buy a boxed Standard copy, it contains a digital code rather than a disc. Receiving the box and redeeming the code are separate from the date the game becomes playable. The preorder page handles those steps and code-region warnings.
