Rockstar opened preorders for Grand Theft Auto VI: The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection, a $399.99 collector box, but it is not a GTA 6 game edition and the game is sold separately. That is the most important detail for anyone searching for a GTA 6 collector’s edition.
The box is official GTA 6 merchandise. It is not the same thing as the Standard Edition, Ultimate Edition, or a physical copy of the game. If you want to play GTA 6, you still need to buy the game separately for a supported platform.
What Rockstar announced
Rockstar announced The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection on September 24, 2026, and linked readers to the Rockstar Store product page. The store lists the collection at $399.99 and presents it as a premium collector box inspired by Leonida’s in-universe show, Macca the Gator.
The product page also gives the key buyer warning clearly: Grand Theft Auto VI is sold separately.
That means the box is best understood as a limited merchandise collection tied to GTA 6, not as the main game package.
Is this the GTA 6 Collector’s Edition?
It depends what someone means by “Collector’s Edition.”
If they mean “an official GTA 6 collectible box,” then yes, this is an official collector-style product from Rockstar. If they mean “a premium edition of the game that includes GTA 6,” then no. Rockstar’s current game editions are still Standard and Ultimate, and this box does not replace them.
| Question | Current answer |
|---|---|
| Is the Vice City Collection official? | Yes. Rockstar announced it and sells it through the Rockstar Store. |
| Does it include GTA 6? | No. The game is sold separately. |
| Is it the same as the Ultimate Edition? | No. Ultimate Edition is a game edition; this is a merchandise collection. |
| Does it change the launch date? | No. GTA 6 is still scheduled for November 19, 2026. |
| Does it include a disc or download code? | No game copy is listed on the product page. |
This is why the wording matters. Calling it a “GTA 6 Collector’s Edition” without explanation can mislead buyers. It is safer to call it Rockstar’s official GTA 6 collector box or Vice City Collection.
What is inside the $399.99 box
Rockstar Store lists a themed set of physical items. The exact names are Rockstar’s product names, but the simple version is:
- Macca the Gator figure
- Oakley Frogskins sunglasses
- Leonida Keys crossbody bag
- New Era snapback hat
- Magnetic mirror
- Shot glass
- Vice City swizzle spoon
- Razor blade keychain
- Enamel pin set
- Sticker pack
- Double-sided souvenir poster with a Leonida map
There are also practical store details to notice. The product page says the item is not eligible for free shipping, includes adult collectible safety warnings, and is sold while supplies last.
What the box does not include
The most important missing item is the game itself.
The box does not include:
- GTA 6 Standard Edition
- GTA 6 Ultimate Edition
- a PS5 game disc
- an Xbox game disc
- a digital download code for the full game
- a PC version
- a Steam key
- a preorder upgrade
It also does not confirm any new gameplay information, story detail, map size, online mode, PC release date, or game-edition bonus. It is a merchandise release, not a new game-info reveal.

Why people are confused
The confusion is understandable. Most players use “collector’s edition” to mean a premium game bundle. In many game launches, that kind of edition includes the game, a statue, art book, steelbook, map, or other physical items.
This GTA 6 product looks like that kind of premium box at first glance, but Rockstar’s store page separates it from the game. The product is attached to GTA 6 branding and Leonida-style collectibles, while the game remains a separate purchase.
That is why many search results and social posts are using phrases like “GTA 6 Collector’s Edition” even though Rockstar’s safer product wording is The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection.
Should you buy it?
That depends on why you want it.
It may make sense if you:
- collect official Rockstar merchandise;
- want the themed physical items;
- understand that GTA 6 is not included;
- are comfortable with the $399.99 price before shipping;
- want a display piece tied to the launch year.
It probably does not make sense if you only want the game, need the cheapest way to play, or expected a traditional collector’s edition with a game copy inside.
For most players, the safer path is simple: buy the actual game edition first, then treat the Vice City Collection as optional merch.
What readers should do next
Before buying, check the Rockstar Store page directly and read the product details, shipping rules, safety information, and refund/cancellation terms. Do not buy from resale listings or social posts unless you understand the risk and the final price.
If your main question is “which GTA 6 version should I buy?”, start with the editions guide. If your question is whether physical copies include a disc or a code, use the physical copy guide.
We will update this report if Rockstar changes the product details, opens more regional store pages, sells individual items separately, or announces a true game-included collector’s edition.
